HYBRID ROCKET LAUNCHES

PERSONAL HYBRID ROCKET LAUNCHES

Hybrid rocket motors offer a very low cost and safe means of rocket propulsion. Hybrid rockets are very straightforward to launch, and with practice, it takes less time to prepare a hybrid propelled rocket for launch than a solid propelled rocket.

The launch information below, details launches I have made using the R.A.T.T.Works and Hypertek hybrid rocket motors. These are powered by polyethylene fuel and Nitrous Oxide oxidiser. The oxidiser tanks fill through the bottom (through the single injector), and when full, start venting Nitrous Oxide to the atmosphere - hence the clouds of Nitrous Oxide seen in the photo below. This makes the launches look like a real cryogenic NASA style liquid rocket! The R.A.T.T.Works and Hypertek hybrid rocket motors produce a small flame, and relatively little smoke in their exhaust. However, what they lack in visual impact, they more than make up for in audio impact. The sound of hybrids is very different to a solid, and has to be heard!
